A Sterling Silver necklace with engraved fishing motifs and layered translucent enamel in handmade silver frames. This piece was made for the 'Tresor' exhibition and was based on a Scrimshaw game in the museum collection that depicted fish. The illustrations show an old sloop, a sole, a ray fish, a star fish and a compass with further fish and seaweed in between the enameled pieces. The names of the some of the Manacles ( a notorious reef/fishing ground near where I grew up) rocks are engraved on the back of the silver frames- Morah( the dolphin), Maen Voes ( the voices), Carn- Dhu, Pen Vin, The Quants.
The chain quite large, thick and strong and the necklace closes with a handmade clasp with multiple closure loops for adjustment so that it can be worn to suit different necklines. Full length is 52.5cm with the ability to adjust down at every point to 47.5cm
This is a handmade one off piece that is hallmarked as Sterling Silver.
