Each earring is a completely handmade one of a kind. Some are hand formed from silver sheet, textured or engraved and then layered with translucent enamels- others will be built in layers, shaped from mandrels, cast into silver or gold from waxes, lettered or shaped with hammer taps- but all of them are handmade.

When I was first making jewellery- In 1999 or so- I read an excellent library book written by a jeweller whom Ive never been able to find again. She had trained in Fine Art specialising in sculpture and as she tried to make her way as an artist she rented a massive studio space and made gigantic sculptures that had to be moved by cranes. Getting the pieces in Situ was an enormous undertaking as well as the cost of materials and she soon reached a professional impasse. She hit on the idea of scaling several of her sculptures down into miniature versions of themselves and selling them as earrings. She never looked back and became a fantastic jeweller. She described Jewellery as art that goes under the radar and I loved this idea of earrings as scaled down sculpture and this story was pivotal in my own decision to become a jeweller
